"Putnam Presbyterian Church"
"Landmarks of Zanesville" Series
Built in 1835, this church is one of the original structures of the old Putnam District of Zanesville. It was an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Its first minister was William Beecher, brother of Harriet Beecher Stowe. Fredrick Douglas spoke at its pulpit in 1853.
